Apparently Maud Linder does have original sources, confirming his stay in Florence. She cites an undated article: «... paru après la représentation à Florence: "Il n'est pas nécessaire de parler francais pour rire aux larmes, les mimiques de Max, la mobilité de son visage, le vivacité de ses yeux, s'expriment merveilleusement en italien...
